Hotmail is a convenient place to keep your contacts, calendar, appointment reminders, and more. And since you can access Hotmail from anywhere online, it’s the ultimate way to stay organized, no matter where you are or what you’re doing.

  1. Click Contact list

    Located in the lower left of your screen. This will take you to your Contacts page.

  2. Click New

    A new contact form will appear for you to fill out.

  3. Enter contact’s Windows Live ID

    In the Windows Live ID field, enter the new contact’s Windows Live ID (an e-mail address ending in @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com). Be sure to check Use this address with Windows Live Messenger. Click Save when done filling in the fields.

  4. Log into Messenger

    The new contact will appear in the Messenger contact list the next time you log in.

  1. Click Calendar

    Located in the lower left of your screen. This will take you to your Windows Live Calendar.

  2. Click New

    This will open a new appointment form.

  3. Click Save

    After filling in all relevant fields, including the reminder area if you want Hotmail to notify you when appointment is pending, click save.

  4. Check calendar

    The appointment is now logged in your calendar for easy viewing.

Accept or Decline Meeting Requests

  1. Open meeting request

    When you receive a meeting request in your inbox, you can open it as if it were a regular e-mail.

  2. Choose Accept, Tentative, or Decline

    Accept and Tentative will save the request in your calendar. Decline does not. You may also send a response to the inviter if you choose. And later if you are sent a meeting cancellation, you can choose to have the meeting removed from your calendar.

  1. Go to calendar.live.com

    The Window Live Calendar is currently in beta, but you can use its great new features now. Click on Calendar Beta.

  2. Click on New Event

    To get a feel for the new calendar, create a new event. Clicking New Event will take you to a new event form. Fill in the information and click Save.

  3. Verify appointment in calendar

    Click on the month, week, or day of your appointment to see it on the calendar.

  1. Click Share

    This will allow you to share a calendar with your contacts.

  2. Select Calendar

    If you have more than one calendar, choose which one to share.

  3. Select Contacts

    You can share your calendar with all your friends, or only with the contacts you choose. Click Save when finished.

What's an RSS feed?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) delivers content to you when your favorite sites have been updated.

There are two simple steps to retrieve and play RSS feeds:

  1. Choose a news reader: News readers check RSS feeds and give you access to any updates that have been added to them. There are lots of different news readers, and some are accessed using an Internet browser.
  2. Subscribe to RSS feeds: Click on the orange button that says RSS to get info you need to paste into your news reader to subscribe to the RSS feed.
