Hotmail is more than an inbox. It’s an interactive world that belongs only to you. And just like you’d decorate your room at home, you can add color and design to your inbox, as well as control the way you view and send mail. With Hotmail, it’s about you.

  1. Click Options

    A drop-down menu will appear showing your choices of themes.

  2. Hover over a theme

    As you hover, Hotmail will preview it for you in the background.

  3. Choose your theme

    Click on the one you like best. You can come back and change it any time you want!

  1. Click Options

    A drop-down menu will appear showing reading pane options.

  2. Select a reading pane setting

    Choose from Right, Bottom, or Off.

  3. Return to your inbox

    Highlight a message in your inbox to see how it displays. Note:Hotmail helps protect you from spam by blocking images in your preview pane, until you confirm you know the sender, whether you have the reading pane on or off.

  1. Click Contact list

    Located on the lower left of your screen. This will take you to your Contacts page.

  2. Click Categories

    A drop-down menu will appear showing your current list of e-mail lists.

  3. Click New category

    This will take you to a page where you can create a new list.

  4. Type category name

    Call it Cat Lovers, Lunch Club, whatever you want. You also can type the names of contacts you wish to add in the members field, or just click Save to create the list only.

  1. Click Contact List

    Located on the lower left of your screen. This will take you to your Contacts page.

  2. Select Contacts

    Check the boxes next to the contacts you would like to add to a list.

  3. Click Categories and select group

    With boxes checked, click Categories and select the category (list) to which you want to add the selected contacts. (When sending a group e-mail, simply type the group name in the “To:” field.)

What's an RSS feed?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) delivers content to you when your favorite sites have been updated.

There are two simple steps to retrieve and play RSS feeds:

  1. Choose a news reader: News readers check RSS feeds and give you access to any updates that have been added to them. There are lots of different news readers, and some are accessed using an Internet browser.
  2. Subscribe to RSS feeds: Click on the orange button that says RSS to get info you need to paste into your news reader to subscribe to the RSS feed.

When you subscribe to this RSS feed, you'll be updated whenever new blog posts are added to this site.
